Royal Exchange Theatre by Les Heywood

Original oil on canvas

48x53cm

Manchester born artist who after leaving school began to work in the advertising industry as a visualiser. After 30 years of working for various agencies, he is still active in the industry today and is now a self-employed freelance illustrator.

Over time he has explored most mediums but the majority of his paintings are now produced in pastels and oils as he finds this offers him a subtle but vibrant colour palette. His subject matter varies from landscape to village life but he also enjoys the challenge of trying to capture the mood of a dramatic sky before and after a storm. However, he is equally at home when drawing the calming effects of a barge navigating its way along the local canal.

He has exhibited at galleries throughout the North West including The Colin Jellico Gallery in Manchester and has had a solo exhibition at the War Memorial Art Gallery in Stockport.  His works are preselected for exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. Many of his works are now in private collections across the world.
